The account must be held by a natural person, and each person is only allowed one PEA account. The maximum lifetime contribution to a PEA account is €150,000. All contributions to the plan are cash-only and must be denominated in EUR. The PEA is an envelope intended to encourage investment in French and European equities. The account allows to invest in stocks, ETFs and Funds.
To open a PEA account, you must be a French tax-resident citizen aged 18 or older. The PEA account can be requested as part of the account application process or from the User (“Head/Shoulders” icon) > Settings > Open an Additional Account > Individual Brokerage Accounts > PEA menu in Client Portal. You must provide details on your birth city and birth department code when opening the account and will need to answer questions as to whether you already have a PEA account.
